I’m glad I found a church that I can call home. People are friendly and non-judgemental.

You will never find a more loving, accepting, compassionate, supportive, prayerful, dynamic, on the spot church than Conoy.

Thank you Lord for providing such a blessed and loving group of friends.

Articles of Faith and Doctrine

Our Articles of Faith and Doctrine provide summary statements about our theological beliefs.

We affirm an understanding of scriptural interpretation that recognizes:

  1. The inspiration and illumination of the Holy Spirit

  2. The centrality of Christ in divine revelation

  3. The New Testament as interpreter of the Old Testament

  4. The scriptural focus on piety and obedience

  5. The essential value of community consensus in the interpretive process

These articles are to serve as summary statements of our beliefs. Because each closely relates to one another, it is best to read them as a whole. The Brethren in Christ U.S. Manual of Doctrine and Government more fully explains our understanding of biblical faith and the Christian life.

Following each doctrinal statement is a listing of selected Scripture references. As the article grows out of the totality of the biblical message, these references are only illustrative of the scriptural truths identified in each section.

We as the BIC family prayerfully explore topics at the intersections of theology, faith, and culture.

Engaging with matters of faith together, over time we have developed positions on subjects affecting us individually and corporately. Our perspectives reflect our heritage: The Anabaptist, Pietistic, Wesleyan, and Evangelical streams of Christianity that have shaped our history still influence our faith today.

Taken together, our positions represent our ongoing desire to live out our faith in accordance with the Spirit, with Scripture, and in community.
